Your location
TeeHound requests your browser location only when you select My location. Your precise coordinates stay in memory for the current page session and are used to center the map, estimate distance, and sort nearby results.
TeeHound does not store that precise location in its database, send it to analytics, or add it to a shareable URL. Reloading the page clears it from TeeHound. Your browser or device separately controls whether location permission remains allowed.
Website data
When you choose a result sort order, TeeHound remembers that choice in your browser's local storage. This preference contains no location or identity information. Clearing this site's browser data resets it.
Browse and search do not require an account. TeeHound offers a lightweight verified-email account only for saved tee-time alerts. Usage analytics is on by default only for eligible US visits, unless you opt out. TeeHound does not use advertising trackers. Like most websites, its hosting infrastructure processes ordinary request information such as IP address, browser details, requested page, and time to deliver and protect the service.
When you open an official booking page, TeeHound records an anonymous handoff event containing only the course, booking provider, TeeHound source surface, and event time. It does not add the request IP address, browser details, precise location, search criteria, party size, or a user identifier to that event. Handoff events are retained for up to 90 days and used only to understand aggregate course and provider interest. Expired events are deleted when new events are recorded and when the internal report runs.
Optional usage analytics
Privacy update posted October 17, 2026: the US opt-out policy below is now in effect. Existing opt-outs and Global Privacy Control continue to keep analytics off. Eligible US visits will use default-on analytics; non-US and unknown-country visits will stay off. Analytics choices are always available below and in the footer.
For eligible US visits, TeeHound uses Mixpanel for product analytics by default unless you opt out. Visits outside the US, or whose country cannot be reliably established, are not included. Analytics helps us understand searches, booking-link clicks, alert actions and repeat use. A random first-party browser cookie lasts up to 180 days; a session expires after 30 minutes without activity. These are pseudonymous identifiers and activity records, not anonymous data. We do not connect analytics to your alert account or combine devices.
Events contain broad action categories, count ranges and timing ranges. We exclude precise location, search text, chosen cities or courses, email addresses, account identifiers, alert criteria, full URLs and sign-in tokens. There is no automatic form capture, session replay, advertising tracking or email-open tracking. TeeHound sends events from its server without forwarding your IP address; Mixpanel receives that server connection.
We also keep daily activity totals associated with the same random browser identifier for up to 90 days to produce private aggregate reports of traffic, useful search results and repeat use. A coarse earlier-activity marker can remain until the browser identifier expires, so an older browser is not incorrectly counted as new. Current search and session correlation expires within 30 minutes; we do not keep another individual event history for these reports. Turning analytics off or requesting deletion removes these local summaries. The arrival page reduces its referrer to a broad source category; the referrer URL is never sent in analytics.
TeeHound estimates country locally from the request’s network address using the DB-IP country database. Network location can differ from your actual location, for example when using a VPN. Missing or outdated country data keeps analytics off. TeeHound does not retain the address or country in analytics records or add them to Mixpanel events. A default-on visit is recorded under the US opt-out policy and is not recorded as explicit consent.
Your choice is remembered; Global Privacy Control keeps analytics off, and existing opt-outs continue to apply. You can turn analytics off or request deletion through Analytics choices below or in the footer. Turning it off clears its browser identifiers and stops future collection. Use deletion before clearing browser data if you also want to request removal of history associated with this browser.
We use Mixpanel as a contracted service provider for product measurement. We do not sell these analytics records or share them for cross-context behavioral advertising. Requests go to Mixpanel’s US project infrastructure. The retention and deletion periods below apply separately from the browser cookie’s lifetime.
We honor Global Privacy Control for analytics. We do not separately interpret the older Do Not Track browser signal; your Analytics choices remain available whether or not that signal is set.
Mixpanel retains optional usage events for up to two years unless deletion completes earlier. Browser identifiers expire after 180 days; this does not delete earlier events. Deletion can include up to 24 hours of ingestion reconciliation before vendor processing, which may take up to 30 days. Pending requests are not complete.

Checking analytics settings…
Testing or working on TeeHound? Mark this browser as internal to exclude its activity from product metrics and remove its local report history. Previously sent Mixpanel events are unchanged. This does not turn analytics on or off.
Turning analytics off stops future collection. Deletion applies only to the current browser identifier, including history already sent to Mixpanel. Other browsers, cleared cookies and expired identifiers cannot be located through your alert account.

Tee-time alerts
If you create alerts, TeeHound stores your verified email address, selected supported courses, date and time window, party size, sign-in sessions, and the delivery state needed to avoid repeated notifications. A current alert created while an optional maximum price was available may also retain that saved limit until you clear it or delete the alert; expired history retains it only until deletion. Alert identity and criteria are not added to the anonymous booking-click records described above.
TeeHound sends sign-in links and matching alerts through its configured transactional email provider. That provider receives the destination email address and message contents to deliver the email. TeeHound does not use alert email for advertising or silently personalize organic search results.
Single-use sign-in links expire after 20 minutes and sessions expire after 30 days. Delivery and match deduplication state is removed within 90 days after an alert ends. Saved alert criteria and the verified email remain until you delete the alert or alert account. Account deletion removes the verified identity, saved criteria, sessions, and delivery state from TeeHound's active database.
Course coverage requests
A golfer may ask TeeHound to prioritize live coverage for a reviewed or missing course without creating an account or verifying an email address. TeeHound stores the requested course or entered course name, an optional city, required contact email, optional first and last name, and request status. Repeating the same request with the same email address updates the existing record.
TeeHound may use and share aggregate course-demand counts in partnership discussions, but not golfer names or email addresses. Email john@teehound.com to correct or delete a coverage request.
Maps and booking providers
The map loads tiles from OpenFreeMap and its map data contributors. Those services receive the network requests needed to display the visible map area. TeeHound does not send them a separate saved location profile.
Booking links take you to an independent course or booking provider. Information you submit after leaving TeeHound is handled under that provider's own privacy practices.

Privacy policy changes
We post changes here and update the date above. For material changes, we provide a prominent notice on TeeHound before the change takes effect and obtain consent when applicable law requires it. Changes do not override an existing analytics opt-out.
